David Smith House, St Marys, Ontario
David Smith House

Built in 1857 along with the Cruttenden House (36 Ontario Street South) this was the first residence in St Marys built of brick;   before that all permanent structures were built of stone.   The house was built of salmon-prink brick now painted white.  Its original owner David Smith was listed in the 1861 census as a "gentleman".   Originally it had a veranda the width of the house; the doorcase was added in the 1920s.

Designated a heritage property Oct 13, 1987.
