David Smith House Built in 1857 along with the Cruttenden House (36 Ontario Street South) this was the first residence in St Marys built of brick; before that all permanent structures were built of stone. The house was built of salmon-prink brick now painted white. Its original owner David Smith was listed in the 1861 census as a "gentleman". Originally it had a veranda the width of the house; the doorcase was added in the 1920s. |
