From the commemorative plaque:
"The building is located in the east third of a major stone block erected by the town's first mayor
Thomas Boy Guest in 1868.
Built in the Classical Revival style using St Marys limestone,
it is fronted with early carved wooden mouldings."
The building housed the local newspaper until 1992 when they moved to the
Eedy Building.
It is now The Chocolate Factory which sells homemade chocolate both here and at
the Covent Garden Market, London, Ontario.
The Grand Central Hotel was also built for T. B. Guest.
Designated a heritage property Oct. 13, 1981.
