Water Street Bridge

Water Street Steel Bridge

The bridge, built in 1898, was designed by Joseph Humpries, who also was the architect of the library.   The bridge was erected by the Stratford Bridge and Iron Works.   The company had been were founded in 1892 in Stratford, Ontario by W. W. Cowan. At the time it employed 50 and as well as steel bridges also built windmills, grinders, force and lift pumps.   The abutments were built by John Elliott who was also responsible for the maisonry for the Town Hall.

The bridge crosses Trout Creek.   There are 94 heritage bridges of provincial significance including St Marys' Victoria and Church St bridges
Has not been designated an historical property.
