Carnegie Library
From the commemorative plaque:
"In 1904 Andrew Carnegie donated $10, 000 for this limestone library.
J.A. Humpries was the architect and Robert Clyde, local stonemason, was the builder.
The building, with sturdy Grecian features, Carnegie's preference, was completed in the summer of 1905 and
has been in continuous use since."
The library increased in size from 4,000 to 6,000 sq.ft. with a 1988 addition.
The architect Joseph Humphries was also the architect of the parish hall of St James Anglican church, St Marys and the Water Street Steel Bridge.
